Elvis 77
From HawaiiBase
Originally Pat Morley/bass (Dread Ashanti), Hank Scneider/guitar and Charlie Palumbo/drums (S.R.O.). Later, Mark Flores took over the drum kit.
Elvis 77 was a very tight 3 piece. They opened for the Butthole Surfers, Babes in Toyland and Faith No More in addition to playing much smaller shows such as coffee shops and clubs.
Their music had a heavy drive, influenced by the Meters, Primus and early Ween. Two songs that were favorites among the "fans" were "Deadwood", an instrumental that I first heard live on a boat and "Lunch" which is actually a line from David Lynch's "Wild at Heart". A line delivered by Crispin Glover....."I'm Making my Lunch!", which was sung by Pat Morley. They had an album entitled "Bzzzzzzzt" which started off with "77 Alarm" and continued on with "Blue", "Miss Marie", and a version of "Deadwood" which featured an extended drone that reflected the album title among other songs. Morley, considered among people in the scene as an incredible bass player, was often known to scream lines of Elvis 77 songs through the pickups of his instrument.
